Collapse of competitive gaming scene?

In the (not so distant) past, in the days following a large WH40K tournament the related blog-sphere were full of excitement, discussions, and list analysis. This year the Nova Open went by and ... practically nothing. No posts, no lists, no discussions. I was surprised, but then I've seen the list of winners... Tau/Eldar, Eldar/Tau, Tau/Tau... and this post (see discussion below the main text):

Very sad. At least, those new miniatures are better and better quality designs... and they do not require a codex for standing in a display cabinet...

GW guards their secrets (quite) well

As many fans of WH40K, I was looking recently through the range of new Space Marines miniatures, especially interrogating all photographs of the plastic sprues. To my surprise, all of them are dated 2012 (see photo below)! This means more than 9 months between  final acceptance and the release. Taking into account that first leaks appeared no more than one month ago (during White Dwarf printing, I bet), this shows how serious (and effective) the company is about keeping their secrets, despite efforts of some bloggers to publish rumors early.

I wonder, what they have in the office desks already (beside the tyranids, of course)!
